VCE Psychology · Memory — Atkinson-Shiffrin & beyond · 8 flashcards, free to study.

For the Year 12 memory & learning SAC. Covers explicit/implicit types + classic capacity/duration data.

Three stages of the multi-store model
Sensory memory → STM → LTM.
Capacity of STM
7 ± 2 items (Miller, 1956).
Duration of STM without rehearsal
~18–30 seconds (Peterson & Peterson).
What is episodic memory?
Personally experienced events, time-stamped and contextually rich.
Semantic memory — definition

Procedural memory — example
