Equilibrium — Le Chatelier predictions

Quick-fire Kc, predictions for stress changes, common SAC trap (catalyst doesn't shift!).

What does Kc represent?
Ratio of product to reactant concentrations at equilibrium, each raised to its stoichiometric coefficient.
Effect of adding catalyst on equilibrium position
None — equilibrium reached faster but Kc and concentrations unchanged.
Effect of ↑ temperature on an exothermic reaction
Equilibrium shifts ← (toward reactants); Kc decreases.
Effect of ↑ pressure on N₂(g) + 3H₂(g) ⇌ 2NH₃(g)
Shifts → (fewer moles of gas).
What's a homogeneous equilibrium?
All species are in the same phase (e.g. all aqueous, or all gas).
Why does adding an inert gas at constant volume not shift equilibrium?
Partial pressures of reactants and products are unchanged.
