QCE 2026 external assessment: dates and how to prepare

QCAA's 2026 external assessments for General and General (Extension) subjects run in Term 4, from Monday 26 October to Tuesday 17 November 2026.

By StudyDesign AI editorial team. Dates checked against the official page linked below on 12 October 2026; the authority can change them, so confirm on the official page and on your own personal timetable. No teacher review is claimed.

What QCAA says about the schedule

On myQCE's external assessment page , QCAA gives the Term 4 window above. The subject-by-subject timetable is published on the QCAA website, and a school-hosted copy may be out of date, so use QCAA's own.

QCAA builds the timetable to limit clashes: if a student has a clash within a session, they are moved to the other session on the same day, and most students sit no more than two external assessments in one day.

Preparing in the final fortnight

  • Know what external assessment is. In General subjects it is one part of your result alongside your internal assessments. See how QCE internal assessment works.
  • Check clashes and double days early. If you have two on one day, plan sleep and food as well as revision.
  • Practise under time in the exam format, then mark yourself against the syllabus's own standards, not a vague sense of "good".
