Questions students actually ask
Are these ATAR calculators actually accurate?
They run each authority's own published 2025 scaling or aggregate table at the precision that authority actually publishes it, so the maths is real, not a guess dressed up as one. What they can't know is your real moderated marks, whether the current year's scaling shifts slightly from last year's, or any bonus points and special consideration a university adds on top. Treat the number as a band a few points wide, not a certainty, and expect it to move once your actual results are moderated.
Why do different ATAR calculators give me different numbers?
Every calculator has to make the same set of choices: which year's scaling table to use, how many decimal places to keep, whether it includes bonus or adjustment points, and how it rounds a subject that sits outside the published data. Two tools that make different choices on any of those will land on different numbers from the exact same marks. These calculators use each state's own 2025 table, unrounded until the final step, and no bonus points — so a tool that rounds earlier or adds a scheme bonus will disagree with it, even though both are reading the same underlying data.
Do these calculators include bonus points?
No. Bonus and adjustment points — for equity schemes, specific subject combinations, or a particular university's own admission bonuses — are added on top of your ATAR by the institution you apply to, not by the authority that calculates the ATAR itself. These calculators estimate the base ATAR only, the same number that would appear on your Tertiary Entrance Statement before any university adds anything to it.
When do 2026 ATAR results actually come out?
VIC (VTAC): 7am Thursday 10 December 2026. NSW (UAC): 9am Wednesday 16 December 2026. QLD (QTAC): 9am Friday 18 December 2026. WA (TISC): Sunday 20 December 2026. SA and NT (SATAC) release results, the TES and the ATAR together through SACE Board's Students Online, typically mid-December, but SATAC had not confirmed an exact 2026 date at the time of writing — check satac.edu.au directly closer to the date. These are the authorities' own release windows, not a personalised notification, and they can shift by a day or two year to year.
